Day 1: Arrival in Uganda

Our experienced bird guide driver will meet you at Entebbe Airport upon your arrival and transfer you to your hotel of choice in Kampala. Depending on the time of arrival, we may start our safari with bird watching around the shores of Lake Victoria in Entebbe, before going to the city. Overnight Kampala (BB)

Day 2: Travel to Budongo Forest

After an early breakfast, we will drive to Budongo Forest Reserve, which is a five-hour drive from the capital Kampala. Your lunch will be ready at Budongo Eco Lodge that sits in the heart of Budongo Forest Reserve. Budongo is one of the largest forests in Uganda with an incredible biodiversity, including nine different primates, 360 bird species and 290 different types of butterflies.

In the afternoon, get into the forest for a short bird-walk. You will spend a night at Budongo Eco Lodge (FB).

Day 3: Birding in Budongo and drive to Murchison Falls National Park

Wake up early to walk the Royal Mile track. Your guide will tell you the rich tales associated with the track while birds sing for you. You will not miss African dwarf, blue-breasted and chocolate-backed kingfishers, Cassin's hawk eagle, Nahan's partridge, white-thighed hornbill, yellow-billed barbet, lemon-billed and lemon-bellied crombec, black-capped apalis, forest and chestnut-caped and yellow-footed flycatchers, Jameson's wattle-eye, Ituri bati and black-eared ground thrus.

After this beautiful forest birding, your guide will drive you into Murchison Falls NP, and you will spend a night at Paraa Safari Lodge (FB).

Day 4: Birding, game drives and boat cruise

You are in Uganda's largest national park with its stunning nature. After breakfast, go for an early long boat safari to the delta and look for the rare Shoebill! You won't miss the fish-eagle, Goliath heron, saddle-billed stork, African jacana, piedand malachite kingfishers, African skimmer, piac-piac, rock pratincole, black-winged red bishop, yellow-mantled widowbird and some migrates. The Nile escarpments are home of the nesting and colorful red-throated bee-eaters. Return to the Lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you can go for a game drive, where you will sight elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards and many different antelope and several bird species. You can also choose to go to the top of the falls and have a great view of Murchison Falls – the world's most powerful waterfall. You will spend a night at Paraa Lodge (FB).

Day 5: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

Take a beautiful drive further west through the green countryside and tea plantations that lead you into Fort Portal. Stopover for lunch and continue for an extra one-hour drive to Kibale Forest, where you will stay at Primate Lodge that is in the heart of the Forest (FB).

Day 6: Kibale Forest, Bigodi Swamp

In the morning, you will enter the forest for a guided birding walk, where you will encounter rare species, including the Papyrus Gonolek, White-winged Warbler, White-collared Oliveback and Papyrus Canary. Kibale is one of the most varied tropical forests in Uganda and is home to a total of 70 mammal species, most famously 13 species of primate, including the chimpanzee, so be at watch to see some of these primates. You will return to the lodge for lunch
in the afternoon, go to Bigodi Swamp for a guided walk along the boardwalk trail and viewing platforms. You will see the great blue turaco and many other species, including white-spotted flufftail, yellow-spotted barbet, hairy-breasted barbet, bellow-billed barbet, western nicator, grey-winged robin-chat, white-tailed ant-thrush, brown-backed Scrub-robin, black-and-white Shrike-flycatcher, brown-throated wattle-eye, superb sunbird, brown-crowned tchagra, bocage's bush-shrike, black bishop, white-breasted negrofinch, grey parrot and black-crowned waxbill, among others. Return to your lodge through local communities and villages. Overnight at Primate Lodge (BB)

Day 7: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you will drive along the foothills of Rwenzori Mountains until you reach Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will spend a night at Mweya that is located on the peninsular facing Kazinga Channel that seperates Lake George and Edward. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 8: Game drive and boat safari

Take an early breakfast before going on a long game drive. While searching for birds, you won't miss a wide range of wildlife, including elephants, buffalos, lions, waterbuck, leopards, Uganda kob, warthogs and many more.

After lunch, take a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, where you will see an incredible amount of water-birds, including the yellow-billed and saddle-billed storks, various plovers, pelicans, cormorants, fish eagles, papyrus and the black-headed gonolek. You will spend a night at Mweya Safari Lodge (FB).

Day 9: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP

Take an early breakfast, checkout of your room and drive through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth NP, do a game-drive searching for the tree-climbing lions and more birdlife, including black bee-eater, the broad billed roller, the Cassin's grey flycatcher, the Ross's Turaco and the double toothed barbet.

Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Reserve; famous for rare mountain gorillas, but also boasts a rich bird list of over 350 bird species. Check in at Buhoma Gorilla Safari Lodge and go for a short walk along the Muyanga River trail in the afternoon to encounter blue kingfisher. (FB)

Day 10: Birding in Bwindi or optional gorilla tracking

Go for a long walk in and around Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where you will have a chance to see the black-billed turaco, dusky and barred long-tailed cuckoos, bar-tailed trogon, black bee-eater, grey-throated barbet, Petit's cuckoo-shrike, Alliot's woodpecker, red-tailed bulbul, yellow-whiskered greenbulls, white-bellied robin-chat, white-tailed ant-thrush, rusty-faced warbler and white-browed crombeck. You will also come across the yellow-eyed black flycatcher, white-tailed blue flycatcher, white-tailed crested monarch, narrow-tailed starling, McKinnon's grey shrike, Luhder's and Doherty's bush-shrikes and black-headed waxbill.

Option to track mountain gorillas will attract US$600 per person for a gorilla permit and this must be booked well in advance (at least three months before departure).

In the afternoon, you can choose to stay at your lodge or do village walk to have an encounter with the local communities. Overnight at Buhoma Gorilla Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 11: Drive to Echuya Forest and Lake Bunyonyi

Drive through the rugged hills of Kisoro before arriving at Echuya Forest, where you have a chance to view the regal and the blue-headed sunbird, the red-faced woodland warbler and the Rwenzori batis, cinnamon bracken warbler, African harrier-hawk and the African hill bubler. You will also be able to view the Chubb's cisticola, cinnamon-chested bee-eater and the white-tailed blue flycatcher.

After this rich birding experience, you will continue to Lake Bunyonyi; regarded as the most beautiful lake of the world by the BBC. Bunyonyi (place of birds) is the second deepest lake in Africa. Overnight at Bunyonyi Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 12: Drive to Lake Mburo

After breakfast, you will begin your journey to Lake Mburo National Park through decorated hills, with cultivated stripes and ridges of Kabale. You will be welcomed by Lake Mburo National Park, which sits on the roadsides of the Kampala-Kabale highway. The park is home to zebras, eland and impala, as well as an abundance of other wildlife. You will also enjoy the sunset on boat cruise. You will spend a night at Mihingo Lodge, which has an impressive ambiance (FB).

Day 13: Bush walk and driver back to Kampala

After breakfast, check out of your room and go on a bush walk with an experienced ranger. You will notice footprints and animal droppings. It is exciting to approach wildlife at such close range and see several birds. Have lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre and drive to Kampala. Your guide driver will make a stopover at the Equator for a photo opportunity and for you to buy a souvenir. You will spend a night in Kampala (BB).

Day 14: Transfer to airport and departure
